Dan Zdraveski owns Chemically Aware and Misha owns EcoAware. Misha has Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS), so this business was born out of necessity. Like a lot of people with Chemical Sensitivities, Misha is unable to go into a supermarket because odours emitted from the chemicals and fragrance products adversely affect her health (Misha wears a Mask when she goes shopping). Dan became frustrated being the one to go to the supermarket to get food and household products only to find that Misha either couldn't use them or had to air them outside for 3-6 weeks to off-gas (especially the toilet paper and anything else from the cleaning or toiletries' aisle).
One day Misha bought a roll of toilet paper inside the house to use that had been on the front verandah for 4 weeks. She went to put it on the toilet roll holder and when she placed her fingers inside the roll a massive brown spider crawled out and up her arm. Misha had had enough of airing things outside!! They started ordering in bulk and this led to the idea of helping others with Chemical Sensitivities...The business was born! Dan came up with the name ‘Chemically Aware’ and he registered it.
Misha has always had a passion for making creams, lotions and balms. Her passion has now rubbed off on Dan and he has become a soap maker. Misha's range of products are known as EcoAware
they include: Unscented Lip balms, Soaps, Mineral Tooth powder and a furniture polish. Misha and is also developing a Shaving Cream and a Washing Powder which are already in use "it's just we have not yet settled on a preservative for the shaving cream" and the washing powder is not quite ready yet.
