We live in a very beautiful yet 'polluted' world. Most people don’t realize that perfumes and scented products add to this pollution. For the people who are allergic, sensitive or suffer health problems like headaches, asthma, aching sinuses or just feel overwhelmed by these products, life in this world can be very difficult. In some cases they cannot go out at all, for fear of becoming unwell and then not being able to function and live life properly at all.

Greenpeace’s study into some of the Chemicals in Perfumes was published in 2005. Thirty five of the most popular brand name perfumes were investigated including names like Calvin Klein, Armani, Hugo Boss, Gucci and Dior. This study concluded that the chemicals groups Phthalates and Synthetic musk’s were found at unsafe levels, which is of a serious environmental concern to us all. View this in PDF format.
The perfume used for this study was ‘Opium’, (Yves Saint Laurent, Paris France). The perfume has been on the market since 1977 and it is in the top 10 most sold perfumes in Europe.
